My favourite body butters for very different reasons.
The mango body butter smells so good I could eat it. This is a great body butter for non oily skin (it’s an oilier butter) I like to wear this on days I’m not working too hard at my skin and just want to smell really good!
The aloe body butter doesn’t smell quite as good (it doesn’t smell bad!) but it really nourishes my skin when I need a nice pick me up in the winter.
The body shop is a bit pricey but I got these on sale! Regular price you can expect to probably pay in the range of 30$ Canadian
Baths are tricky when you have combination or dry skin. There’s nothing quite like a bubble bath and so many of us feel hesitant to go all out worrying that our skin will dry out if we do.
Here’s my take on a nice bubble bath for dry/combination skin:
1) Fill your tub with warm water - do not make it searing hot this will destroy your skin!
2) Add epsom salts first as you just turn on the tap, this gives the salts a chance to dissolve. You can pick epsom salts up even at your local Walmart. Epsom salts heal any tension in your muscles which is great for relaxation or relief after a session at the gym!
3) Add body oil right after the epsom salts. You don’t have to be picky, even massage oil does the trick but make sure it’s something you like the smell of and does the job for you. This is a key factor if you want to not dry out your skin with the salt and soap.
- I use Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Dry Body Oil which is under 10$ and lasts a very long time
4) Add Bubble Bath as a last step as the bath is filling. Add it near the water spout so it bubbles up into your bath! Buy a higher end foaming bath as it makes a world of a difference for dry skin. The cheap stuff will make ya flakey!
- I use Dans un Jardin’s Bain Moussant Parfumé Scented Foaming Bath in Wild Blackberry
Enjoy your baths ladies and gents!
oh and the bubbles will go away faster because the oil is also in the bath, don’t be alarmed! They do last for a regular bath relaxation session but probably won’t last once you’ve pruned up!

Face mask time !
If any of you out there are also writing finals soon and are breaking out: use a face mask while you’re studying or taking a break.
The one I use: mint tingle facial masque by earthscience for (oily/combination skin)
An alternative: Vicky’s normaderm tri-activ cleanser
Why I wear certain anti-aging products
It’s a funny, I was always someone who felt that it was weird when a young woman used anti-aging products. To an extent I still feel this way when women say “just incase I’m actively aging I want to be prepared.”
I wear creams with anti-aging properties because they tend to have a thicker consistency and moisturizer better. “Older” skin tends to be tougher and drier than “young” skin so these creams do the job for dry skin.
Another reason that it is merely impossible to find an eye-cream with no anti-aging advertisement on it! I finally found a good one that is just for hydration.
Will be posting photos soon!
Love the skin you live in xo
Vichy - nutrilogie 2
This is a thicker version of my previous Vichy face cream. It’s on the verge of being a balm without being oily so it’s absolutely perfect for season transitioning into colder months. I’ve been using this for about a week now.
The first time I used it I did feel a stinging sensation, thought I was allergic to the product but it lasted only for a few minutes and what it was really doing was repairing my skin. It had been very flakey and that basically cleared up after only a couple of days.
No complaints about this product!
38$ CAN. (Purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart)
Clean and Clear’s Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer
I bought it a couple days ago from Walmart for 7$ CAN and so far so good. The smell sort of reminds me of Melona bars (for those of you who don’t know it’s a milk/melon Popsicle) so that’s always a bonus and is very light on the skin. It hasn’t broken me out or made my skin drier yet.
So far so good! And cheap!
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum
My new favourite serum, perfect for the summer. I don’t use a heavy cream for daytime use anymore, I just use this.
It’s a very watery consistency compared to a lot of serums but that just means you can use less than you normally would for more coverage. This is great for people with dry skin who want something light to moisturize with on hot summer days - this wears well under makeup too!
Clinique Almost Powder Makeup (Pressed Powder)
Truth be told I’ve never bought a clinique product for the sole reason that I was never really recommended it by beauticians/aesthetician. The other day I was in Shoppers and the manager, whom I trust because I’ve known her for a few years now, recommended this as a good pressed powder. She said it was the best for my skin type in the store even over dior or other much pricier buys.
To keep it short, I love this product. Great for very dry or/and oily skin types. A bit of coverage alongside a great way to give a finishing look to your makeup.
I apply this with a damp beauty blender lightly.
I bought a beauty blender. Best decision in the past few months of purchases, works like a dream. 26$ Can well spent!
I’m back with more products!
Went to Shoppers to redeem some points and this time around I was more skincare focused.
I haven’t tried any of these products yet because I just bought them today, one was a fairly usual purchase so I won’t be reviewing the cleanser as I have before - HOWEVER if there’s something you guys specifically want me to review by all means let me know!
Hydrating Moroccan Argan Oil Dry Body Oil
I think this brand is fairly ethically friendly!
This oil was cheap, especially for the price at walmart/target or your local department store. I use it post shower and while it is super oily it absorbs into the skin fairly quickly compared to products like grape seed oil.
This smells a lot like a homely smell for me so I really like everything about it.
Tips and Tricks: You can also splash a bit into your bath with epson salts if you need some relaxation and dont’ want to dry out your skin!
These newly launched Garnier products I am actually super happy with!
The two in the middle are body creams/gels for post showering or daily usage. They both smell like regular Garnier products so don’t expect the scent that they’re made of - for example the mango butter will not smell like mango.
The product on the far left side of the photo is a hair treatment that is meant to be used after you towel-dry your hair. It’s for those of us suffering from damaged or damaging ends. It also prevents further damage and does not make my scalp oily. These are all very happy things to me. I have no complaints about this product.
The product on the far right is a hydration shampoo, fruity and fun for the summer. It’s nothing spectacular but it absolutely does the job for the summer heat. My hair doesn’t get greasy in two seconds neither does it dry out and get frizzy.
Love me some Garnier this summer.
Wearing essentially no makeup whilst traveling in Europe.
Many people forget the importance of giving your skin a break from time to time. This is especially important upon travel. 1) the plane will dry out your skin and dehydrate your body 2) your skin needs a chance to breathe and relax while your on vacation.
Yesterday it was roughly a dry 25 degrees C where I am. I just wore a touch of mascara and went on my way.
The most important thing is to wash your face and enjoy the sun and atmosphere naturally, especially if the air is fresh and light.
Love the skin that you live in!
